Natural & Sustainable -Face Cleansing DIY

face cleansing oil natural

Natural ways of cleansing face are the best, not only because they are safe and healthy, but also because they do not leave a chemical residue on the face. Being an environment enthusiast myself, I also love how making our own stuff is sustainable, devoid of any plastic packaging that would end up in landfills or chemicals that would pollute ground water!

Now, over the years I have tried a ton of different ways of cleaning my face using natural products. One of the best ways to cleanse your face is OIL. Yes! Before you fret oil is going to cause your skin to break out etc., let me assure you every skin type has a kind of oil that suits their skin. Oils with high comedogenic index would not suit sensitive and acne prone skin, so best to use oils accordingly. I will put up a separate post about the various kinds of oils that we could use for skin care. As of now, I would be talking about two kinds of face cleansing recipes. One for dry skin and another for sensitive/oily/acne prone skin.

Dry Skin beauties:

  1. The best bet for dry skin ladies and men, is to use coconut oil for cleansing. Get a bottle or organic and virgin coconut oil and use a few drops to massage your skin in circular motions. It removes all makeup, and is also highly nourishing, You could also use a combination of coconut oil, olive oil ad almond oil as per your preference.
  2. Add two teaspoons of milk and 1 spoon of rice powder/besan(gram flour) and gently apply on skin and leave it for 10 mins. Rub your face in circular motion slowly and gently for 2 minutes. Wash your face and pat dry.

Oily skin/Sensitive skin beauties:

  1. Jojoba oil: Jojoba oil is carier oil with low comedogenic index. Tae a teaspoon of jojoba oil; Add two drops of lavender oil or/and tea tree oil and massage it to your face in circular motions to get rid of all makeup, and dirt accumulated in your pores.
  2. If you are still not convinced about using oils on your skin, you can try mixing one teaspoon curd, and mix it with orange peel powder or rice powder or gram flour/besan ( for some reason my skin doesn’t love besan so I skip it) and apply on your skin, and leave it for 10 mins. Rub your face in circular motion slowly and gently for 2 minutes. Wash your face and pat dry. If lemon suits you, you can add a dash of lemon to the mix.

None of these take time, and once you get into a habit of using natural methods, you would not go back to plastic packaged face washes. You don;t have to spend a bomb to take care of your skin. Also do think about the amount of plastic you would not throw away to the environment. I am a firm believer of the fact, that what is not good for the environment is not good for our bodies. Our bodies are meant to thrive and flourish on this earth and if we start embracing Nature and make more conscious and mindful choices, we can experience a healthy body, mind and earth.
